LOCAL PRO WINS AGAIN

Fresh off the back of winning the PGA North West Alliance, Lancaster-based golf pro Chris Holt won again in event 4 of the newly formed North West Order of Merit.

Holt, assistant pro at Knott End, was competing at his home track in the latest tournament of the North West Order of Merit's inaugural season and shot a 4 under par total to win by 3 shots in breezy conditions on the Fylde Coast course. Chris, who has had a number of tournament wins over the winter, was pleased with his performance and said "With the tournament being on my home course I was quite confident of carding a good score and just hoped that would be enough to come away with the win"

Tournament Director Chris Berry said " Chris Holt was the pre tournament favourite and lived up to his billing. It was great to have a player of Chris' quality in the field as everyone has to raise their own game to compete "

"The North West Order of Merit is a new series of golf tournaments we have put together this year and Knott End was our fourth event, the others being at Garstang, Hesketh and St Annes Old Links. It gives amateurs the chance to compete away from their own club with other amateur players, it also gives them a chance to compete against pro golfers, which is very rare for a golf event as they are usually pros versus pros or amateurs versus amateurs" said Berry.

The North West Order of Merit is open to all golfers regardless of ability or handicap and has attracted players from all over the North West of England, some travelling from as far as Derby to compete. They have sponsorship from Yes Golf who give a putter to the winner of each event, plus support from many other businesses from within the golf industry, along with numerous companies from outside of the golf world.
