News - SIX TOUR WINS AND COUNTING FOR THE PUTTING STROKE ENGINEERS FROM GOTHENBURG

2009/10/09

Englishman Simon Dyson won a scorching victory at The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship on October 5th, barely six weeks after wining the KLM Dutch Open and barely 11 weeks after picking up a Path Finder putting aid from Esoteric Golf Technology pros at Barsebäck before the SAS Masters.

He took home a winner’s cheque of €440,000 and pulls himself up to #8 in the Race to Dubai Rankings, having begun the week 92nd.

Dyson began the penultimate round on Sunday on six under but picked up a birdie at the par five 3rd and eagled the par four 6th before gaining another shot on the 12th. After dropping a shot at the 15th he recovered by birdying the 16th and last.

Playing well through all the woods and irons but with his putter especially on fire, he birdied three of the opening four holes to take the early lead in the delayed final round, slotting in a very convincing 18-footer on the 2nd. Seven birdies in all saw him surge into the lead on the final day. In his last four starts has had a win, a third and a seventh.

“I have hit some great iron shots this week, but it all came down to my putter, that has been great this week” Said Dyson to the cameras afterwards as he finished with a final day 66.

Other noteworthy top 10 finishers using the Esoteric range of products include Oliver Wilson (2nd), Rafael Cabrera-Bello (4th) 7, Luke Donald (7th) and Gregory Bourdy (9th).

In the 3rd round Luke Donald enjoyed a flying start, picking up three birdies in the first four holes. Four more in six followed, beginning at the eighth. Donald, whose nine birdies constituted the round of the day at Kingsbarns, said: “I gave myself a lot of chances from ten, 15 feet and just really rolled the ball nicely today. The putter has been working well, and that's going to be the key again.

“Usually you can give yourself a lot of chances around St Andrews. It's whether you can take them or not. I know a few years ago I was in a similar position, and I played well but just didn't make the putts. I definitely need to cope rolling the putts in.”

Esoteric Golf products are distributed in the UK by Yes! Golf, whose main growth this year has been down to its Putter Custom-fitting Centres (now 51 across Europe and counting). Training aids like those made by Esoteric, Harold Swash and Roger Brooks form a crucial part of the custom-fitting experience for Yes! Golf golfers.

According to Peter Allison of Yes! Golf UK the combination of custom-fit and sure-fire putting aids represents one of the greatest experiences the golfer can get – and it’s consistent through the winter months too, as players at all levels take their putting practice ever more seriously on winter greens but also at home and in the office.
