News - MOLINARI BRAVES THE ELEMENTS TO CLINCH 2ND PLACE IN DENMARK

2009/10/05

Yes! Golf enjoyed another scorching performance this weekend, as Edoardo Molinari clinched a convincing second place at the ECCO Tour Championship at the Holstebro Golf Club in Denmark.

The Italian Yes! Man led in the first round under tough weather conditions with winds gusting up to 25mph and was the only player in the 120-strong field to break 70. Day two saw him maintain his lead with four birdies, but severe weather and standing water on the course halted play on the third day.

Starting off the 3rd and final round in the lead it seemed that Edoardo was unstoppable, but a triple bogey six at the 17th resulting from a wayward tee shot gave Portugal’s José-Filipe Lima all the opening he needed to edge Molinari into second place.

The Italian took home a cheque for €19,800 which makes him the first Challenge Tour player to top the €200,000 earnings mark.

Molinari was one of the first European players to fall for Donna – the blade/mallet C-Groove hybrid launched for the 2008 start of season. Lately, however, he has been seen on the greens with Dawn (also known as the Purist’s Putter) that ahs been custom-fitted with the Variable Weight-Shafting System (vSWS) carrying a 200gm insert. He used the Dawn both in Kazakhstan and in Denmark.
